Abstract

Nowadays, the world of communication is experiencing significant technological progress from generation to another, which leads to an increase in the number of devices and traffic. This increase leads to a sharp increase in energy consumption. Therefore, reducing energy consumption in wireless mobile networks is becoming a major concern; not only because of the rising cost of energy of mobile network operators but also because of its adverse environmental effects due to Global warming. In this paper, to reduce energy consumption, we propose to switch on/off the eNodeB (eNB) according to their amount of traffic and SINR (Signal to Interferences Noise Rate) values of their Users Equipment (UEs). The switch on/off is performed in LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) based Heterogeneous Network (HetNet). In order de guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) and maintain network performances after the switch on/off procedure, we apply a tilt variation and Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) techniques.
